Destroying Yourself with the Pride of Life

"Pride leads to destruction; humility leads to honor."
Proverb 18:12.You went to the finest schools.

You wear the best clothes. You don't settle for anything but the best. Leader, why is your organization in such a mess? Let's expound on this thought. It's important that leaders maintain their integrity and not let "the pride of life" overcome their efforts. Northouse, leadership expert, notes integrity is an important leadership trait. Leaders with integrity inspire confidence because they can be trusted to do what they say they are going to do.

Many times leaders make the wrong decisions because of pride (no one is going to catch me because I'm smarter). We live in a media savvy world and sometimes a leader starts reading his press clippings and listening to other people; he/she starts believing the "hype." Jesus dealt with superiority complexes with the Jewish elite class, the Pharisee and Sadducees.

These noblemen felt when they kept their self-imposed, religious laws they were perfected with God. Jesus disagreed with their hypocrisy. In Matthew 15: 8, Jesus criticizes the hypocrisy of the Pharisees, "?This people honor me with their lips, but their heart is far from me; in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men." The foundation of hypocrisy is our pride.Likely, leaders must be careful not to allow pride to enter in their minds and influence their decisions.
